William And Kate Host Buckingham Palace Reception

On Monday evening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the UK-Africa Investment Summit.

Duchess Kate looked glamorous as always in a red sequin Needle & Thread gown which she combined with red Stella McCartney clutch, red heels and matching earrings.

The mother-of-three wore her hair in her signature bouncy blow dry, and kept her make-up natural.

Prince William opted for a smart navy suit with a matching red tie.

Originally, it was Harry and Meghan who were supposed to attend the event with William and Kate. But, instead the couple hosted with Edward and Sophie Wessex, on behalf of the Queen who is still at Sandringham.

The Countess of Wessex, who is celebrating her 55th birthday today, looked elegant also in a red dress paired with gold, velvet heels.

This reception marks the first one William has hosted alone- part of his preparation to one day become king.

The UK-Africa Investment Summit was hosted by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Monday morning. The aim was to bring together Heads of State and Government and senior representatives from African countries, key multilateral agencies and high-profile UK and African businesses.

Tonight, Prince William and Kate formally received the Heads of State and Government and their partners.

The reception was followed by a group photograph of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, and The Princess Royal with the Heads of State and Government.

Their Royal Highnesses then joined a reception in the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace where Prince William gave a short speech.

The Queen and Prince Charles werenā€™t in attendance at the reception to mark the start of the UK-Africa Investment Summit; while Prince Harry made a surprise appearance earlier today at the summit. He had four bilateral meetings, with the heads of state of Morocco, Malawi, Mozambique and Boris Johnson.
