Why Weren’t The Cambridge And Meghan At Lady Gabriella Windsor’s Royal Wedding?
On Saturday, Lady Gabriella Windsor married her long-term partner Thomas Kingston at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The daughter of Prince Michael of Kent wore a Luisa Beccaria dress as she and Thomas wed at the same venue the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did a year ago.
However, this wedding was strikingly different, with the couple getting a lower-key, private affair which was not broadcast on TV.
Some of the guests include the Queen, Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice. However, Meghan along with William and Kate and even Princess Eugenie were noticeably absent from the venue.
Earlier this week, Kensington Palace revealed that the Duke of Cambridge will be at a public engagement on Saturday. “The Duke of Cambridge, President of the FA, will attend the 2019 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Watford at Wembley Stadium, and will present the trophy to the winners.” After missing the last FA Cup Final due to the Sussex couple’s wedding, it is understandable that William chose not to miss this year’s final.
Kate did not appear for a solo outing for the wedding, with no specific need to attend, as her children did not have the responsibility of pageboy or bridesmaid, unlike in 2018 for Harry’s wedding and their auntie Pippa’s wedding.
Meghan did not attend the event either, with her newborn son Archie keeping her busy.
It is no surprise that she decided to skip the wedding, having given birth to her son only a couple of weeks ago. Mum and Archie will be in the great company though, as grandma Doria has been keeping them company since mid-April.
Despite Kate’s absence, her sister Pippa Middleton along with her husband James Matthews appeared to be in high spirits on a special day. It is no surprise that they were invited, as Lady Gabriella and Thomas were guests at Pippa and James’ 2017 nuptials.
