What Made Kate And Meghan Laugh So Much At Wimbledon
On Saturday, Kate and Meghan joined by Pippa Middleton attended Wimbledon to watch Serena Williams and Simona Halep compete in the women’s final.
Winning Wimbledon is a hugely exciting moment. But meeting the Duchess of Cambridge is kind of a big deal too.
The Romanian tennis player beat Williams in straight sets, with the entire match lasting less than an hour.
But, it was a moment after the game that caught our eyes. Kate and Meghan were noticed laughing away, and it’s for the most adorable reason.
Simona Hale chatted BBC reporter after the match, and the Royals were brought up in conversation.
Halep was asked if it was true that the presence of the royals was part of the reason she had found the prospect of playing in a Wimbledon final so exciting. She admitted: “It’s an honour to play in front of the royal box, thank you.”
The reporter asked: “You mentioned in your press conference you were hoping the Duchess of Cambridge would be here today.”
“So you will get the membership and also get to see your name up on the board and you will also get the royal box where you will probably meet them.”
It was Halep’s reaction to the statement which had both Kate and Meghan in fits of laughter.
“That’s amazing — I didn’t know that it is more special now!” the winner answered.
Later, Simona met the Duchess of Cambridge, who is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and congratulated her on her victory.
“Really well done, it was so inspiring to watch, you played an incredible game, congratulations,” Kate said as Simona thanked her.
Later, the winner tweeted: “Today I dared to dream and the dream came true!”
