The Heartbreak That Bonded Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
We can say that it was love at first sight when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met in the summer of 2016. And when Harry took Meghan on a trip to Botswana for their third date, it was the clue that made his friends realize that he had finally met someone special. It is not hard to realize why. Both of them are beautiful, intelligent, compassionate… To get to the point, they are made for each other.
However, there is one thing that might have helped them bond. Both, Harry and Meghan, are the children of parents who fell out of love and divorced.
Meghan Markle was only 6 years old when her mom and dad, Doria Ragland and Thomas Markle, divorced.
When Prince Charles and Diana separate, Harry was only 8 years old.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Meghan talked about her parents after the divorce. “My dad would come on Sundays to drop me off, and we’d watch Jeopardy! eating dinner on TV trays, the three of us… We were still so close-knit.”
However, Meghan’s best friend NinakiPriddy shared a different thought: “It could be hard for her. Sometimes she felt she had to pick sides. She was always trying to make sure each of them was happy. She’d have to relay messages. It was literally stuff like, ‘Tell your mother…,’ or ‘Tell your father…'”
Meghan’s mother had a huge impact on what kind of woman Meghan is. Especially on her humanitarian work. When Meghan wasn’t filming for Suits she was involved in humanitarian endeavors.
“Both my parents came from little, so they made a choice to give a lot. Buying turkeys for homeless shelters at Thanksgiving, delivering meals to patients in hospice care, donating any spare change in their pocket to those asking for it, and performing quiet acts of grace—be it a hug, a smile, or a pat on the back to show ones in need that they would be alright. This is what I grew up seeing, so that is what I grew up being.”
Meghan’s dad was a lighting director on shows such as Married….With Children and General Hospital. So, we think that influenced her to pursue a career as an actress. It was definitely a chance for her to learn about Hollywood. Apparently, she used to visit him a lot once.
Prince Harry experienced a similar thing. He also had divorced parents, that led separate lives. Even though it was said that Prince Charles and Diana their separation was amicable, when they announced it, it was not at all. Many scandals followed their split that led Queen Elizabeth to decide that the only choice for them was to divorce.
And in the documentary devoted to 20th anniversary of Diana’s death, Harry confessed his feeling on his parent’s divorce.

“There was a point in which our parents split, and the two of us [Prince William and Harry] were bouncing between the two of them [Charles and Diana] and we probably never saw our mother enough, or saw our father enough. You know, there was a lot, a lot of traveling, and a lot of fights on the back seat with my brother… of which I’d win. So, there was all of that to contend with, and I don’t pretend that we’re the only people to have to deal with that. But it was an interesting way of growing up.”
Paul Burrell, Diana’s butler, talked about it too. “It was upsetting for them to watch the fall-out of their parents’ marriage and whenever Diana got upset, they would push notes under her door saying, ‘It will be OK.’ Diana smothered them in love, and they always slept in her room during that time and not the nursery.”
Meghan made history this year by being the first unmarried girlfriend of a senior royal to join Christmas celebrations with Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Harry talked fondly about Meghan Markle’s first Christmas with her future royal in-laws and described her finding in them the family she “never had.”
Ninaki Priddy, who was a close friend of Meghan before they fell out, backs up Harry’s. “The idea of having a family was something Meg very much wanted, particularly because she was from a family that felt very disjointed.”
We can say without a doubt that the family is vital for Prince Harry And Meghan Markle. And considering their past, it seems inevitable that in the future they will avoid doing the same mistakes.
