How Meghan Is Changing People’s Lives?
As Meghan’s due date draws near, some fans of the royal couple made an online campaign with the hashtag #GlobalSussexBabyShower to make a virtual baby shower donating money to Meghan’s favourite charities.
Nick Ede told Yahoo’s Royal Box video series: “They are raising some money for the Mayhew, which is one of the big charities. I think around about £4,000 has been raised. This is a really good thing. Although we are saying there is the negativity that comes around Meghan, this is a lovely way of celebrating her. Strangers to her, fans of hers and Harry’s, have come together collectively, taken their own money and giving it to good causes and that’s a brilliant thing to happen. So, in many ways, the Meghan effect is very positive and changing people’s live.”
Three of Meghan’s favourite charities were chosen on the campaign that went viral on Twitter.
Fans from around the world donated, which led to a charity announcing it was “floored” and grateful for the amount given.
With the hashtag “Global Sussex Baby Shower”, donations for Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED), the Mayhew, an animal welfare charity and the Well Child Awards, which celebrates the UK’s brave young children, benefited the most from this virtual baby shower.
After receiving a lot of support from their fans, CAMFED released a statement thanking the donors.
CAMFED tweeted on their account: “All you amazing, warm-hearted & generous people: You completely floored us today when you started sending your support and donations. You’ve made our year!”
The whole campaign began thanks to one Meghan fan account ’’ which called on users to donate to Meghan’s favourite charities.
In a tweet, they wrote: “We’re kicking off a global fundraiser on Sunday, March 31, in honour of Baby Sussex and the compassion and altruism of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
