Meghan Makes Surprising Confession On Trip To Morocco With Harry
Meghan said the work done at the Royal Equestrian Club Dar Es Salam was “amazing” and “really impressive”
She admitted that she sometimes feels “camera shy” on the final day of the trip to Morocco with her husband. The royal couple has learned how the country’s love of horses is used to help children with disabilities at an equestrian club in Rabat today.
As they watched a grooming session of three Shetland ponies, they approached one who appeared to be shaking.
“Has anyone got any carrots?” said Harry, noticing that one called Molly was shaking. “She’s a bit nervous, this one.”
Meghan said: “Well, we all get a little camera shy, I understand.”
During the visit, the Duke, who grew up riding, said he ‘missed his old horses’.
The couple then went to watch underprivileged children make a dish from the Grenfell cookbook championed by the Duchess.
They were seen smiling while they tasted some of the delicious recipes.
The Duke and Duchess then went on a tour around the beautiful Andalusian Gardens in Morocco’s capital.
Later they will speak to young social entrepreneurs before finishing the visit by meeting Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco.
Earlier, the couple earlier were taught about Morocco’s developing program of equine therapy for children with special needs, funded by the King, who the Duke and Duchess will meet later today.
Arriving at the Royal Equestrian Club Dar es Salam, Morocco’s main equestrian venue, they met Louis Broski from Holland, founder of the Centre Social Kariat in Sale, near Rabat.
The organization works with mentally and physically disabled children.
Mr.Broski, who has been training horses for more than 30 years, is one of the country’s leading figures in equine therapy.
“It was a challenge. I started with one child, but now 16 years later we have 100 children. My aim is for all disabled children to be fully integrated into Moroccan society,” said Mr Broski.
“That is just so important, and this is just a gorgeous space you have here,” said Meghan, before being introduced to young people Mr.Broski brings to ride at the club.
Meghan told them with help from a translator “I love the connection with the horses, it already makes me feel relaxed and more confident.
“And I like being outside, with nature.”
Meghan told her: “Wow, you’re very impressive. What an accomplished lady. I imagine it’s so therapeutic as well as meditative.”
