Meghan Keeps Breaking This Royal Rule! And We Totally Love Her For That!
When it comes to public speeches, the royals usually have their speeches written for them for any kind of event they attend, by their close aides. But that isn’t the case for everyone, as Meghan Markle, who just joined the royal family half a year ago, has her own way of doing things.
According to reports, the LA-born former actress insists that she write her own speeches and often spends hours preparing in the days before an event. This fact was revealed as part of the behind the scenes preview of Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries.
Omid Scobie, the royal contributor for ABC, has noted that Meghan had handwritten notes with her when she went to give a speech during the royal tour in October.
At the engagement, which took place in Fiji, Omid asked a palace aide if Meghan had prepared the speech herself and the response she got was that the Duchess had been “up for days” working on it.
It’s more of a norm for royals rather than an official rule for royals to have assistance when it comes to writing official speeches of their own and we respect Meghan for deciding to do it herself.

Meghan actually has some history of giving public speeches in the past, way before she became a royal. In 2015 she addressed the United Nations with a speech, as she had the role of a UN Women’s Advocate for Political Participation and Leadership. She gave quite a powerful speech, so its safe to say that she more than capable of writing her own speeches.
Life as a royal isn’t as easy as it seems, but Meghan has had no problem in adapting to this new royal lifestyle.
