Prince Louis Christening Details Have Been Officially Announced
Time passes by so fast. We can’t believe that it has been eight weeks since Kate gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis. And now it’s time for the baby’s christening.
Kensington Palace today announced that Prince Louis’ christening will take place on Monday 9 July.
The christening will take place in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. This is the same chapel where his brother George was baptized.

The full statement read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday 9th July at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London. Prince Louis will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.”
Members of Kate and William’s are expected to attend the christening including the Queen, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Also, we believe Carole and Michael Middleton, her younger brother James and her younger sister Pippa, will also be there.
We’re not surprised that Prince William and Kate have opted for this date, two months and eleven days after their youngest son’s birth. In keeping tradition, Prince Louis will be baptized when he’s three months old.
Prince George was christened at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace on October 23, 2013. He was three months and one day old.
And the same was for Princess Charlotte’s christening. It also took place soon after her birth, on July 5, 2015. She was two months and three days old. However, she was baptized at the Church of St Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
The couple notably chose different venues for each of their first two children’s christenings. However, they have reverted to their first location for Prince Louis’.
Both children had small and intimate christenings, with around 20 to 30 guests in attendance.
Royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that the choice showed Prince William’s desire to have an “enduring link” to his late mother, Princess Diana.
He said: “This is a very personal decision.
“Diana’s body rested in the Chapel Royal before the altar for a week after she died.
“As with George who was also christened at the Chapel Royal and Charlotte who was christened at the Church of St Mary Magdalene where Diana was christened there is an enduring link with the mother William so adored and who is his and Harry’s inspiration.”
We definitely expect to see Prince Louis in the same cream lace gown both his brother and sister wore at their christenings.
Princess Charlotte was only the fifth child to wear the gown, and Baby Cambridge will be the sixth.
The gown has such a short history as it is a replica, made in 2004.
The original was made in 1841 and commissioned by Queen Victoria for her firstborn, Princess Victoria.
Prince Louis is William and Kate’s third child, but second boy. Hewas born at the private maternity unit of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington on Monday, April 23, at 11.01am, weighing 8lb., 7oz.
The christening will mark another major family event in the royal calendar just months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Royal Wedding in May.
