Prince William And Kate Set To Attend BAFTA Film Awards
Prince William and Kate are getting ready for a glamorous evening at the BAFTAs this month. The Palace announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the EE BAFTA Film Awards ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall. They will attend this year’s event after a two-year absence.
The 76th British Academy Film Awards, which will honour the best national and foreign films that were screened at British cinemas in 2022, will take place on the 19th of February.
Prince William has been the president of the BAFTAs since 2010 and has traditionally attended the ceremony alongside his wife.
Given that Prince Philip passed away the day before the ceremony, it is understandable that William and Kate missed it. However, they didn’t attend the ceremony neither last year. At the time, a BAFTA representative explained that this was because of “diary limits.”
Still William managed to make a virtual appearance in a special video message.
The BAFTAs is the British equivalent of the Academy Awards. It honours the standout actors, actresses, directors, filmmakers, and movies of the year.
William and Kate will watch the awards ceremony before meeting category winners and EE Rising Star Award nominees.
William typically walks the red carpet along with his wife Kate, delivering a speech praising the work of the film industry towards the end of the ceremony.
The EE BAFTA Film Awards will be broadcast on BBC 1 and BBC iPlayer from 7pm on Sunday 19 February.
The BAFTA Film Awards will be hosted this year by actor Richard E. Grant. The BAFTA EE Rising Star Award nominees are Daryl McCormack, Naomi Ackie, Sheila Atim, Aimee Lou Wood, and Emma Mackey.
