The Queen Issues Sweet Message To Mark Prince George 8th Birthday
The Queen has joined senior royals in wishing her great-grandson Prince George a “very happy eighth birthday”.
Prince George turns eight today and to celebrate his epical day Prince William and Kate released a brand new photo of him.
The Royal Family Instagram account, which represents the Queen, has reposted the new photo along with balloons and the message: “Wishing Prince George a very happy birthday today.”
Clarence House, the residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, also shared their birthday message, wishing: “A very happy birthday to Prince George!”
In the birthday portrait, taken by mom Kate, Prince George can be seen perched on the bonnet of a Land Rover Defender in a touching reference to his late grandfather Prince Philip who’s go-to car was the Land Rover. The birthday boy is dressed in a polo shirt and flashing a sweet smile in the shot.
George is the Queen’s third oldest great-grandchild, after his cousins, Savannah and Isla Phillips. He is currently third in the royal line of succession and will take on a huge amount of responsibility as the future monarch.
In 2016, Kate revealed that her son has a sweet nickname for his great-grandmother. In an ITV documentary to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday, Kate spoke about the relationship she shares with Her Majesty and about how much she is beloved by her children George and Charlotte.
“She’s been very generous and not sort of been forceful at all in any of her views. But I feel she’s been gentle guidance really for me.
“George is only two-and-a-half and he calls her ‘Gan-Gan,’” Kate explained. “She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows her love for her family.”
