William And Kate Take The Children For A Family Holiday
Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken their three children down to the Isles of Scilly for a staycation.
The Cambridge family has gone on a small holiday to a modest stone cottage in the Isles of Scilly. William And Kate took their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to the islands 25 miles off Cornwall for a quiet ‘staycation’, according to reports.
The weather was the classic English, being cloudy with temperatures around 14C, but that didn’t stop the family-of-five from enjoying their trip, the locals claim. This is the second time they have gone to the island this year, with the family also making a small holiday in July when they were seen cycling and greeting residents.
A holidaymaker who saw the royals last week said: ‘We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves.
‘The place where they were staying was quite modest and certainly not hugely luxurious.
‘We couldn’t help thinking what the weather might be like in California — but it’s much better to be holidaying here in Britain.’
The isles have a small population of 2,153, with only five of the 140 islands being the inhabited-the perfect spot for someone who is trying to get away from it all and enjoy quiet walks, cycling routes, or just relaxing in one of the homely pubs or restaurants.
One-third of both lands and homes are owned by Prince Charles, through the Duchy of Cornwall. In the past, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, along with a young Prince William and Prince Harry, would often visit the islands.
This getaway comes right after the Duke and Duchess presented a Pride of Britain award, on behalf of the nation, to recognize the NHS frontline heroes in their battle with the global health crisis. The two royals met with six representatives of the NHS to talk about their work during the pandemic and to present them with the special recognition award at Britain’s oldest hospital, St Bartholomew’s, which is located in London.
There they also met and offered their support to TV presenter Kate Garraway, whose husband Derek has had a tough fight with the virus after being diagnosed with it back in March. Kate was the one who introduced the royal couple to the members of the NHS.
The whole ‘ceremony’ was filmed for the climax of the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards 2020, in partnership with TSB, which will air on Sunday, November 1st at 9 pm on ITV.
The NHS frontline workers got thousands of votes from the public to be nominated to receive a special recognition Pride of Britain award.
