Meghan And Camilla Set To Carry Out First Joint Royal Engagement
The Duchess of Sussex is set to make her first visit to Westminster Abbey’s Field of Remembrance ahead of the national Remembrance Sunday ceremony. She and husband Harry are teaming up with the Duchess of Cornwall for their first engagement as a trio to mark Remembrance Day.
Buckingham Palace has announced that on 7 November, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, The Poppy Factory, will visit the Field of Remembrance at Abbey”.
The Field of Remembrance, is a memorial garden which serves as a place where members of the public “can plant a symbol in memory of fallen comrades and loved ones.”
During the engagement, Harry and Meghan will be shown the plots of tiny crosses erected by regiments, military units and other organisations associated with the First World War and other conflicts. They will each lay a Cross of Remembrance and the Last Post will sound, followed by a two-minute silence.
It will also mark the seventh time Prince Harry has attended the event.
This is just one of the events Prince Harry and Meghan are taking part in this week to mark Remembrance Day.
On Saturday, the couple will reunite with Prince William, Kate and the rest of the Royal Family at the Festival of Remembrance Service at the Royal Albert Hall.
Last year, Meghan, who was pregnant with Archie, attended the festival for the first time. She wowed in a black Marks & Spencer dress, which flew off the shelves.
Then, on Sunday, the same Royal Family members will attend the traditional Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, where a wreath will be laid on the Queen’s behalf by the Prince of Wales. It will mark the third year Charles has performed the duty.
